With God’s help and the unstinting assistance of the Community, what we have tried to do in the Sign of the Theotokos Orthodox Church in Montreal, Quebec, is to reconcile a typical Byzantine-style iconography with a different architectural form, in such a way as to express the transcending of opposites and the struggle between different forms. We wanted everything to be traditional in a unique way, to have a representational face that was unique and yet would express established Orthodox iconography, without being attatched to some national school of icon-painting from the past. We wanted everything to seem luminous, reconciled, united in love, as a small indication of the reality of paradise, the communion of the eschaton.\n-Dr. George Kordis\n\nDr. George Kordis is a very talented iconographer who has painted over 30 churches all over the world.
